Having problems trying to choose the best diet for a healthy lifestyle? Here is a brief summary of the most popular diets that can be found in books, or on the internet.
1. The Ketogenic Diet.
This diet called the Keto diet for short focuses on consuming low-carb, and high-fat foods. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and eating only vegetables and meats. With the reduction of carbs taken into the body, the body enters a metabolic state called ketosis, which will focus on burning fat instead of carbohydrate.
2. The Atkins Diet.
This diet, introduced by the physician Dr. Robert C. Atkins, allows you to take as much protein and fat as you like, as long as you avoid carbs. The reason is because a low carb diet helps reduce your appetite. You end up automatically taking less carbs without thinking of it.
3. The Paleo Diet
Paleo, short for Paleolithic, is based on the idea that our bodies were unable to adapt to the rapid changes in food quality and type, thus leading to an increased incidence of obesity, diabetes and heart diseases. This diet encourages a focus on fully unprocessed foods, e.g. vegetables, meat, nuts, seeds, fish and certain oils. Processed foods, e.g. grains, legumes, sugar and even dairy products are eliminated from this diet. It’s supposed to mimic the way which is believed how our ancestors ate.
4. The Blood Type Diet
This diet depends on your blood type. According to some doctors, different blood types require different diets. For example, those with O type, need a lot of high protein food. Those with A are recommended to avoid red meat, and eat more turkey, tofu, and fruits.
